Took it a little easy this morning because the back of my knee has been a little sore and not feeling all that strong. Thought about skipping altogether, but I figured and easy run to the traffic light would be fine. Will ice today.

Yoga

Second class. Felt a little more comfortable but not really as relaxed as last week because my eye was on the clock, as I had to leave early. Great stretch again and learned another one that really stretched out my hips and buttocks. I will surely use these stretches post-run in the future.

Long Run

Three weeks to St. Pete, and although I am not running my fastest training runs, I feel like I am pretty strong. I know on race day I’ll be good for at least 8:00 miles.

Started very late today and in the dark. Don’t like doing that for this longer course because the roads are pretty hairy. The usual spots weren’t all that bad. I guess most people were watching the Ravens game. Did get a little dicey on a usually safe stretch with all of the morons from down state and DC heading home from the ski resort.

Temps were in the upper 20s, but there was no wind at all. Typically I get a little cold on the longer runs with all of the sweat working, but I felt very comfortable the whole way. Enjoyable run.

Hope to have a more active week this week. Eleven next week and then a nice and easy six the weekend before we head to Florida.

Treadmill Run

Busy week with the end of the semester, getting ready for my grad course next week and helping my daughter with her science fair project, so I slacked yesterday and this morning. Got all of my work done at school, so I rewarded myself with a little jog on the treadmill over at the college. My membership there is really for the pool and in case of severe weather, so I thought I’d hit the treadmill instead of bundling up for a run outside. Nice and easy and nothing on my mind at all. Halfway through the school year!

First Go at Yoga

Our school had the highest participation in the fall fitness challenge, so United Health Care paid for a six week yoga class at our school. It was free, and I’ve thought about trying yoga before, so why not.

Most of the people, about twenty five of us, we newbies, so the instructor took it kind easy on us. Not too much core and strength work, mostly stretching. I have always been notoriously stiff, so the work with the hammies was tough. The rest was pretty cool. I learned a lot of new stretches I will surely use in the future.

Got very relaxed at the end, and when someone sneezed across the room it was like a rifle shot split the room. Eh, still went pretty well, and I don’t think I looked too stupid doing it. Looking forward to next week.

MSM Loop

Kids had guests overnight, so couldn’t run in the morning before church. A little tired after the service, so I decided to get a nap before heading out the door. Nap was just what the doctor ordered, as I felt very fresh and at ease when I started. Thought about just doing four and pushing off my long run until tomorrow. Decided to make up my mind after three. Felt good then, so I just kept going on a route pretty much the same as last week. Felt very steady. Again, didn’t push the pace trying to keep it even the whole way. Starting to feel pretty good about St. Pete, even though I’ve been scrambling to get in the miles during the week.
